McDonald Jacobs was founded in 1972 along with a commitment to truly making our community a better place. Our employees are strongly encouraged to participate in the nonprofit community whether they serve on a board of directors or volunteer during one of our firm sponsored volunteer days.

Our Team
History
1972
McDonald Jacobs was created by Jim McDonald and John Ames January 1, 1972 in the Jackson Tower in Portland, Oregon. Jay Maxwell joined as a partner and the firm operated under the name “McDonald Maxwell & Co”
1981
The firm added Jake Jacobs as a partner
1983
The firm added Arnold Biskar as a partner and operated under the name “McDonald/Maxwell/Jacobs/Biskar”.
1984
The firm purchased a DEC PDP 11 computer and later a Compaq computer.
1985
Maxwell left, the firm incorporated and became “McDonald/Jacobs/Biskar PC”.
1988
Firm moved to American Bank Building, 621 SW Morrison, Suite 600.
1989
The firm added their first female shareholder Susan Marks (1989).
1991
Arnold Biskar retired.
1992
The firm welcomed Dennis Johnson as a shareholder.
1993
The firm changed the name to: “McDonald Jacobs Marks Johnson, P.C.”
2001
Mark Clift was added as shareholder
The firm moved to the Pacific Building at 520 SW Yamhill, Suite 500; Founder Jim McDonald retired, and the firm shortened the name to McDonald Jacobs, PC.
2003
The firm moved to electronic workpapers
2005
Jill Oswald was added as shareholder
2006
Karin Wandtke was added as shareholder
2007
The firm installed an electronic document management system
2008
Sang Ahn was added as shareholder
2012
Gerard Deblois was added as shareholder
2013
The firm moved to cloud based terminal server environment.
Mary Strasdin was added as shareholder.
2015
Anthony Almer was added as shareholder
2016
Tyee Carr was added as shareholder.
2019
Jessica Yoder was added as shareholder. Mary Strasdin retired and Tyee Carr stepped back to focus on other areas of accounting outside of the constraints of public accounting.
2021
Brian Rapp was added as Shareholder.
The firm has nearly doubled in size, however the commitment to community, diversity, and creating lasting partnerships with our clients remains unchanged.
