McDonald Jacobs is an accounting firm located in downtown Portland looking for a Manager in our Tax Department.
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing tax guidance and responding to client inquiries in a timely manner.
- Manage the preparation and review of individual, corporate, partnership, and other entity tax returns. Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize clients’ tax liabilities.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff and senior accountants, providing training and reviewing their work to ensure compliance with firm standards.
- Collaborate with senior team members, other managers, and shareholders to ensure that all engagements are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
- Promote the growth and overall well-being of the firm.
The successful candidate will have experience, ability and interest in
- Advising clients on tax planning strategies, including retirement planning, estate planning, and corporate tax strategies.
- Reviewing tax returns prepared by staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and firm policies.
- Conducting tax research on complex tax issues and staying up-to-date with tax law changes.
- Having familiarity with tax preparation software and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
Preferred qualifications
- CPA license (Required)
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Well-organized and with the ability to work efficiently and prioritize appropriately
- Working knowledge and experience with various tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
- Ability to collaboratively work with, delegate, and manage others as part of a high-performing team
- Minimum of six years of work experience in CPA firm
