About the Opportunity

As an Assurance Manager, you would oversee a variety of assurance engagements for a diverse client base, with a particular focus on nonprofit organizations. You would work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality assurance services while mentoring and developing staff and senior staff members.
This role is well suited for someone who combines strong technical assurance and audit knowledge with effective project management, leadership, and client relationship skills.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee assurance engagements, ensuring timely, on-budget, and high-quality completion
- Lead and mentor teams, providing guidance to staff and senior staff members
- Serve as a key client contact, offering strategic advice on audit and assurance services
- Ensure adherence to professional standards and emerging regulations in all engagements
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the growth of the firm through successful project completion
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with a dedicated team of mission-oriented professionals by providing high level service to a variety of organizations, with an emphasis on nonprofit organizations, in the Portland-Metro area
- Upholds general knowledge and application of the relevant professional standards, emerging laws and regulations, and corporate governance requirements
- Collaborates directly with a variety of clientele, ensuring deadlines are met and field work is completely timely and professionally
- Helps to manage and direct engagements, staff, and Assurance initiatives
- Helps to conduct and manage teams for financial audits and reviews of nonprofit organizations as well as audits in accordance with Uniform Grant Guidance
- Works with department and firm leadership to stay abreast of industry changes and continual department improvement
- Understands performance expectations and firm structures, contributing to the growth of the firm through successful and accurate project completion
- Showcases strong communication and presentation skills through multiple client facing scenarios
- Advises, coaches, and leads Staff and Senior staff by fostering a positive learning and collaborative working environment
- Solves complex business problems and exemplifies strong project management skills by planning and managing multiple engagements within budget
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
- CPA certification
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or experience in a related field required (Associates degree or related certifications highly preferred)
- Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, ideally in an assurance or audit capacity
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on external client facing skills
- Well-organized and with the ability to work efficiently and prioritize appropriately
- The ability to collaborate with others as part of a high-performing team
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other audit related programs
- 1-2 years of management experience preferred
