As a Senior Staff Accountant in the Tax Department, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of various types of individual and entity tax returns. The ideal candidate will take the lead in tax engagements, collaborate with both internal team members and clients, and demonstrate a deep understanding of tax regulations and best practices. This position requires someone who can manage complex tasks and apply technical knowledge while working under supervision to meet deadlines and client needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and review individual and entity tax returns for a range of clients
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, while collaborating with internal team members
  • Develop expertise in tax laws and apply them to various client scenarios
  • Mentor and guide Staff Accountants in tax-related tasks and responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax-related projects

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads tax engagements, including preparation and review of tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofits
  • Researches tax-related issues and communicate recommendations to clients and internal staff
  • Reviews financial statements and tax records for accuracy and completeness
  • Provides technical guidance to Staff Accountants and other junior team members
  • Develops project management skills to plan, manage, and deliver high-quality services to internal and external clients on time and within budget
  • Offers suggestions for improving firm-wide systems and processes to appropriate personnel
  • Acts as a point of contact for clients, answering questions and advising on tax planning strategies
  • Promotes ongoing learning and development of tax-related technical skills for personal and team growth
  • Ensures client deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards
  • Analyzes and reviews client data to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the firm structure, people, services, and client base
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by senior team members

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tax engagements and deadlines simultaneously
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other tax related software
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or experience in a related field required
  • 2-4 years of tax accounting experience, ideally in public accounting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or related certifications highly preferred
  • CPA licensed or qualified candidate
