About the Opportunity

McDonald Jacobs welcomes interest from detail-oriented accounting professionals who would like to be considered for current or future BAS Staff Accountant opportunities.

As a BAS Staff Accountant, you would support our Business Advisory Services (BAS) team by maintaining client financial records, processing accounting transactions, and assisting with a variety of recurring accounting and reporting functions. You would work closely with both clients and team members to help ensure accurate financial information and timely completion of accounting deliverables.

This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys working with numbers, managing multiple priorities, and building a strong foundation in client accounting and advisory services.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain clients’ financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
  • Provide direct support to the BAS team within the Assurance Department
  • Assist with recurring accounting, bookkeeping, and client service functions

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Maintain accurate financial records and daily transaction activity
  • Reconcile entries into the accounting system
  • Assist engagement teams with accounting functions, such as recording bank deposits, bank reconciliations, check batches, payroll, and portions of month-end close processes
  • Prepare and assist with annual filings such as Form 1099s
  • Follow established firm and client workflows to ensure timely completion of recurring accounting tasks and month-end deliverables

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting (best practices, knowledge of U.S. GAAP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong data accuracy and entry skills when processing financial information
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high production of accurate work
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to always maintain professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet recurring deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), with aptitude to learn new software and systems
  • Associate degree and/or at least one year of accounting experience
